Late Adopter

In keeping with today’s adopted persona, I am suitably behind the curve on trying out Twitter.

We’ll, I’ve signed up and had a bit of a faff with it, I’ll now set my subconscious on thinking of internal comms applications for it.

I was very interested to see how organisations are using it - particularly Downing St.

  • I still haven’t figured out Twitter. The “little and often” mindset seems like it would get in the way of doing any actual work. I don’t update my Facebook status often enough as it is. Twittering just isn’t going to happen. At least not socially.

I can imagine twittering amongst a team at work being more workable and useful, and an “enterprise twitter” might be a useful way of disseminating organisational info in a timely fashion, but then that’s just like an RSS feed, isn’t it?

    Still confused…

  • I’m with Steve - twittering is more of a nuisance than anything else. I’m sure it has its uses but, as far as I can see, it’s just a pain - and another thing to remember to update!

Plus, do I really care what people are doing every minute of the day? Hmm. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be twittering.

  • I have also been experimenting and wondering what to use it for…

There are some interesting people on there who work in online comms, PR and have lots to say about social networking, blogging etc so I am hoping to use it to keep on top of what other people are doing and the latest fads!

There are also a few Universities using it so I would like to see who they are aiming at and if they can use it with any success! As far as I can see, not enough people are using it at the moment for it to be relevant to my area of work at Warwick, but it might be more interesting with PR and Comms more generally.

I am going to persist for a while…
