What a Beautiful Day!

I’m feeling full of the joys of spring. It’s such a gorgeous, sunny, crisp day.

I walked over to the Arts Centre at lunch to buy tickets for Dylan Moran and Dara O’Braian and took my camera with me.

It’s really hard to capture how bright and sparkling and fresh everything looks. But I tried.

The
view which looked particularly good – but which I failed to capture was
the view along University Road, underneath the Engineering bridge. The
shadows from Humanties and Engineering were thrown into sharp relief by
the bright sunlight towards University House.

It was like looking through a door to another world because the light was so different.

Blue Chips ThumbnailI
did get a good shot of the Humanities blue chippings though – and they
do look great today. Especially combined with the light glinting and
the colour of the silver birches.

Last night I made two
dozen cheese scones. At the Farmers’ Market on Saturday I bought two
types of buffalo cheese (neither mozzarella).

Cheese Scones ThumbnailThey tasted fantastic on the stall, goaty and grassy and sweet. But somehow didn’t taste so good when we got them home.

Himself,
a man who will attack a Munster, Reblochon or Epoisse with gusto,
declared it was a bit strong. So rather than waste it I turned it into
scones – and they’ve turned out rather well. (Even though I do say so
myself!)

I’n also overjoyed because Coca-Cola have bought out a new flavour of Diet Coke:

Diet Coke with Cherry!

It
was only yesterday that I was whinging about the lack of a diet version
of Cherry Coke. I found it in Costcutters at lunchtime.

Tea Cup ThumbnailThanks
also to David Wraith for bringing me in a Pepsi Max Coca Cino
(Cappuccino-flavoured) to try. I’ve put it in the fridge at home and
will be trying it tonight.

Talking of which, I wanted to
show you my new antique tea cups. Another Stratford buy. They are circa
1935 and are tiny – about the size of a cappucino espresso cup.

I’m
planning a fantastic Afternoon Tea party and am assembling crockery,
cakes stands etc. for the purpose. I love the concept of Afternoon Tea…

Finally,
coming back in to University House after such a lovely lunchtime walk
is slightly depressing. For understandable reasons the blinds are all
down and closed to prevent screen glare.

Still, at least I’ve got the day off tomorrow…
